2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour

1 Cup White Flour

1 1/4 Teaspoon Baking Powder

1 1/4 Teaspoon Salt

1 Tablespoon + 1 teaspoon Oil

3/4 Cup + 2 Tablespoon Water (VERY hot)

3 Tablespoon Honey

3 Tablespoon Molasses

Directions

Sift dry ingredients and cut in oil. Set aside for a moment. In a bowl combine water, honey and molasses. Add dry ingredients and oil. Mix well by hand. Dough will be a bit sticky. Divide into 4 equal parts. Roll each into a 1/4 ” thick and 8 ” diameter circle and mark with a cross. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and brush with oil. Bake and additional 5-8 minutes.

Cool. Put into zipper storage bags.

Here are some tried and true (read: delicious) tips for baking the communion bread:

1) I follow the recipe amounts and ingredients.

2) Use boiling water (not just hot water)

3) Use olive oil

4) Add a little bit extra water if needed when mixing so it isn’t dry

5) Don’t roll out quite as large as called for

6) Bake the minimum time

7) Make sure your baking powder and whole wheat flour aren’t stale/expired.
